Rincón de la Vieja
Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park, is Guanacaste's most diverse
national parks. Rincon de la Vieja is known for its impressive diversity of flora and fauna.
It is home to two volcanoes, the Rincon de la Vieja and the Santa Maria. It
is also home of the most diverse natural exhibit of secondary volcanic
activity. There are fumaroles, vapor vents, sulphur vents, boiling mud pots,
roaring little craters, fumarolic lagoons and waterfalls that form blue
lagoons.
This national park is home of more than 200 bird species, 3 species of monkeys, several reptiles and mammals. All of this is visible on the different trails in the park. This park is located just over 1 hour away from the most famous Guanacaste beaches, like Papagayo, Tamarindo and Potrero.
This is one of the 4 more visited national parks in Costa Rica, located in the north west of the country. The park is easy accessable all year round.
