Embark on a Self-Guided Walk to the Red Pond

The walk to the Red Pond is a self-guided nature tour by Hacienda Guachipelin. The area on the Rio Blanco (White River) features a very interesting lava rock formation in red and white colors, made from volcanic minerals.

The trail begins across from the lower parking area by our Rooms & Suites. It is an easy 3/4-mile walk through the shady forest to the pretty Red Pond, where you can swim (you are responsible for your own safety). You can often see white-faced monkeys and other wildlife along the trail. Set out on your own mini adventure at your own pace. Swim for as long as you like, and be on the lookout for wildlife.

All tours are arranged at Hacienda Guachipelin’s Adventure Center; open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for hotel guests and day visitors.
